*This course is designed to last one school year (two semesters). This is semester one of the course.

Grades 6–8 (ages 11–13)

REQUIREMENTS

Has necessary skills required for course (i.e., appropriate reading level or prerequisite)
Has basic word processing knowledge
Has familiarity sending/receiving email with/without parental supervision
Begins class activities within first week of course
Works independently and keeps up with assignments
Sets aside adequate amount of time for study (4–10 hours/week)
Answers/asks meaningful questions during class
Contacts instructor with questions about course work
Students who are are new to speaking English or struggle with learning challenges may find this online format strenuous.

Please be sure you meet all requirements before you register.

Class size limited to 18 well-behaved 11- to 13-year-old students. One parent should plan to sit with his or her child for at least the first class meeting to help with basic online class practices and procedures. The student will greatly benefit if the parent can oversee work and help as needed.

Fix It! Grammar: The Frog Prince, or Just Deserts Teacher’s Manual Book 3
Equipment Needed:

Computer with high-speed Internet (Siblings enrolled in the same class must have access to their own computer.)
Up-to-date Adobe Reader and Microsoft Word (or equivalent programs)
Up-to-date streaming software (i.e., Flash Player) [You can test your connection with the Adobe Connect platform here]
Headphones and splitter if parent is observing class (helpful, but not required)
Microphone (not required, can be built into headset or computer)
A quiet environment during class period
Email account (Parent’s email is okay.)
